Cantata Playlists

Posted January 15th, 2014 by wirefish

A buddy asked about my playlist for writing Cantata. I sort of have one; to be honest, it’s my writing music in general. It’s comprised of a number of playlists I’ve built over the years and augmented with probably six or so tunes that got stuck in my head along the way.

It seemed like Spotify was the quickest way to assemble my stuff, but you do have to log in, unless you use the player below. Sorry about that. Some of my favorites just don’t exist on Spotify, so you’re getting the harder-to-find things courtesy of YouTube.

I considered providing some explanation on how these work for me, but you’re all creative people. Knock yourselves out trying to match stuff up. Well, here they are, after much hunting and gathering. These are all on my iPod — that way’s so much easier! — and I don’t really have a set sequence.

“King of Kings” by House of Freaks (opens in new window) This band has a tremendously sad story that still affects people in Richmond, VA, today.

“Kawika” by Ka’au Crater Boys (opens in new window)

“He ‘Ono” by Ka’au Crater Boys (opens in new window)

“Guava Jelly” by Ka’au Crater Boys (opens in new window)

“Jolene” by the Sisters of Mercy (opens in new window)
